Video Response

HGSE’s degree programs require meaningful engagement in classroom discussions and interactions with peers, faculty, and staff. To better understand your ability to convey information clearly and concisely, please use this section of the application to record a response to a randomly generated education-related question.

TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS

A computer with an embedded webcam.

A browser that supports Flash.

Sufficient internet bandwidth for recording and transmitting a video.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The HGSE Admissions Office is unable to provide technical assistance to applicants experiencing technical difficulties with the recording process in this section of the application. Applicants are given detailed instructions and the opportunity to test the system to ensure their computer and bandwidth speed can meet the recording requirements. Our office is not able to address questions related to the hardware or software set up of an applicant’s computer. We highly advise testing your system well before the application deadline to ensure compatibility and sufficient internet bandwidth.

INSTRUCTIONS

Test Your Setup: Ensure you successfully test the live recording feature with your computer setup.

Review Your Question: After testing, you will be directed to a page with a randomly generated question. You cannot request a different question and must respond to the question displayed.

Preparation Time: The question will be displayed for 60 seconds. Use this time to prepare your response.

Record Your Response: After 60 seconds of preparation, the recording process will begin automatically. You will have 120 seconds (about 2 minutes) to record your response. There is no opportunity to stop or restart the recording once it begins.

One Opportunity: Each applicant has one opportunity to record their video. The process cannot be repeated.

EXAMPLES OF QUESTIONS:- How will you stay updated with the latest practices in education?- What educational innovations would you like to introduce?- What part of education creates opportunities for learners?****HELPFUL TIP:This video response is only one component of your application and will be reviewed within the context of your full and complete application. With only 60 seconds to prepare and 120 seconds to record, the Admissions Committee is not expecting perfection. They do, however, want to get a sense for how you communicate, so do your best to use the allotted time effectively. When in doubt, just keep talking!
